What interests me about the case are the Secret Sunjacent aspects embedded within it, aspects that don't really seem to belong there. I first got on this beat when Ghislaine was arrested and have been digging deeper into stranger and stranger strata.
What my question has been is how did a guy who came across as anything but an intellectual happen to lure every single superstar from the science and tech fields into his web? Why did so many of them - and their institutions - accept so much money that they all knew was dirty? Surely all of them are more than wealthy enough to pay for sex if they wanted it. Why risk their careers for a guy who seemed like a total douche and his nutcase girlfriend?
